Wow… That’s about all I could say as we exited the show here last night in Bilbao, Spain. I’d wanted to see Cirque du Soleil since I saw them on Leno as a child. Last night I went to Dralion.
Since photography of any kind is forbidden during the show, I only have a few pics. If photography would have been permitted you’d still be loading this page.
The tent structure is most impressive. I don’t dare give any size approximations because of the irregular construction but it’s complexity alone makes me doubt my use of the word “tent.”

After we’d gotten our tickets checked, we stepped into the concessions area. Woohoo!!! I can still take pictures here

The show started out with the typical clown-warmup-routines except there were being done in a mixture of Spanish and Italian so I may have missed a bit of the humor there (still funny though). As the show started all I could think was “precision.” I have nothing to compare the quality of the music, lighting and set to. It bested any theater production I’ve been to. Then I realized that is exactly what this is, theater.

The photo above was taken during the intermission. The stage area is concealed behind a large cylindrical curtain. Further behind this circular area is something resembing an elongated quarter section of a football constructed of industrial metal. This structure was used for background characters to crawl about on and the entire trampoline act.
I wish I could provide a better description of Dralion. There is a DVD available with a performance of Dralion. I would’ve purchased it but at a show price of EUR 32, it was a bit out of reach.
Anyway, if you have the chance to see Cirque du Soleil (doesn’t matter which show or for what price) GO!!
