23

On the 28th of last month, Saddam Hussein celebrated his birthday. He was probably vacationing locked away in the canary islands highest security prison american money can afford. A few kilometers away in the quiet country of Löloffaskozia a more humble group of people gathered to celebrate my birthday.

There were no guns being shot into the air in ecstatic jubilee nor ceremonial döner tossing…just good old American / Spanish / Mexican / South African / German / French / Hungarian / Czech fun.

Thanks everyone for coming! It was a good evening to have most all my buddies here in Deutschland together! To my friends in the US, I apologize that you could not make it. I could’ve flown back for the weekend but the reality of it is that I would’ve probably spend my B-day sitting on my couch watching Anime.

Anyway, here are some highlights from the evening.

Ignacio the Stealer

I present to you Ignacio…the Abel-Beer-Stealing-Bandit

Do NOT mess with the martini

Next we have Martin (a.k.a. the Martini) defending his turf on the stairs. Do NOT mess with the martini As a side note: Martin’s obvious alpha-stair-male status was knocked down a peg or two later in the evening when the bandit won a bet concerning James Bond’s martini making methods.

Fighting Over the Crown

Charel & Isa spent the night arguing over who would get to wear the other Burger King hat. “Ich werde dies Teppich nicht kaufen! Bitte!”

Hey Mate

Rafa. After visiting England, he now greets me with “mate.” This was all fine and dandy until he gave me a birthday pinch (one for each year and cheek).*

Andre is an Old Woman

Somebody snuck an older woman into the party but she seemed to blend in with the rest of the guests so we let her stay.

Stair Guests

The stairs proved popular with the overflow crowd. Space is limited in Löloffaskozia this time of year as it’s tourist season.

Time Machine and Spongebob

Nora picked up this schnizdazzy Time Machine (0.01 = 1 second) to cure my aging worries. Thanks guys for the Spongebob & Glass. I believe Spongebob is a nice way of saying “Learn to speak German!” I’m working on it. The glass was dirty during the photo shoot and had to be replaced by nothing in particular. Thanks guys!

Urgent Delivery

Der Dave hand delivered this wonderful assortment of American piggery! Unbelievable how much junk-food one can accumulate if you really put your mind to it. Thanks sir.

I’d just like to say thanks again for everyone for coming out. I really had a good time and I hope you did too. It’s really good to feel at home and welcome on my first birthday overseas.
