Rolling Back the Fog of War

Since it’s nice out again, I decided to take a little stroll though some foreign parts of Wolfenbüttel.

You’ll have to click to get all of this one since it’s mainly pictures

I missed my bus coming back from the Fachhochschule so I ended up walking back. It’s about 30 minutes by foot.

Sidewalk

On the way back I snapped this picture of a random sidewalk. Do you see the gate on right right hand side of the picture? When you peer through it, you see this:

Achtung Katze

This guy must have a pretty fierce cat to warrant putting up a sign. The majority of the dogs here in Germany are so well behaved you could very well have them over for dinner. (seriously…no leashes…unbelievable) The evil needed another entity to posess so it chose cats.

I finished walking home and unloaded all of stuff from the FH and headed back out for a little walk. The first thing I pass is the church that’s next to my house. It’s rather new, being built in the mid to late 1600’s. (um…yeah, new)

Peach Church

cool little passageway between two streets.

Lessing Theater

nice open park close to the theater (click for full panorama)

Wolfenbuettel Park

some trees in the park

a nice old lady getting her mail

Getting the Mail

somebody’s bug

VW

this street leads to the train station and main shopping center in WF

To the Bahnhof

The little stream that winds through Wolfenbüttel with…

Oker

it’s inhabitants.

Duck

The city’s getting ready for a little carnival.

Castle Circus

I climbed this little thing only to find that it’s just a privacy wall for the people on the other side. (Or a secret bunker for ongoing German government technological experimentation)

Little Hill

All the “half-timber” houses in Wolfenbüttel have a bit of character. I wouldn’t want to try and level a pool table in one of these.

Crooked Houses

That’s it…not too much commentary…but WF just has so many nice little places I thought I’d finally post some of them.

Son, Thank you so much for the tour of your city. When we arrive in July, I’d love to go for many walks there. Beautiful and totally amazing how old and well kept everything is. Enjoy your week-end as you hang out with your math book. love mom
